Research group on the continuity of learning to read and write


The fruits of a partnership comprised of the Table estrienne de concertation interordres en éducation (TECIÉ), the Université de Sherbrooke, Bishop's University, Cégep de Sherbrooke, the four Estrie school boards, and private schools in the Estrie region, the research group on the continuity of learning to read and write rests on the collaboration between the research community and the “real life” environment.

The work of this group is part of the initiatives to better support the success of all students in the activities of reading and writing at all levels of education: elementary, high school, college and university.

The objectives of this group are:

  • to collaborate and develop research around the issue of continuity of learning to read and write;
  • to advance knowledge in this field by way of an approach that will benefit from complementary expertise;
  • to evaluate the initiatives implemented at different levels to support the development of reading and writing skills;
  • to shine a scientific light on the problems faced by teachers in the execution of  their role;
  • to promote the transfer of knowledge from various professionals and teachers and to contribute to the development of their professional skills;
  • to promote the training of young research
