MELS's indicators related to the target to achieve by 2016
 
Target 1:   A decrease of 4 percentage points in the three year average rate for youth in the public sector who leave high school without a diploma or qualification going 25.5% to 21.5%.

The average rate over three years for students leaving without obtaining a diploma or qualification for Estrie's public sector decreased by 5.1 points between the 2006-2009 and the 2011-2014 triennial periods. It decreased from 25.5% to 20.4%. In spite of a slight increase, the targeted rate for 2016 has been attained.

 
 
 
Target 2: A decrease of 5 percentage points in the three year average rate for boys in the public sector who leave high school without a diploma or qualification going 32.2% to 27.2%.

The average rate over three years for boys leaving without obtaining a diploma or qualification for Estrie's public sector is decreasing. It decreased from 32.2% for the 2006-2009 triennial to 24.8% for the 2011-2014 triennial. In spite of a slight increase, the targeted rate for 2016 has been attained. Efforts targeting boys must be continued to avoid having the trend negatively reverse.

 

Target 3:   A decrease of 3 percentage points in the three year average rate for girls in the public sector who leave high school without a diploma or qualification going 18.6% to 15.6%.

The average rate over three years for girls leaving without obtaining a diploma or qualification for Estrie's public sector is decreasing. It decreased from 18.6% for the 2006-2009 triennial to 15.8% for the 2011-2014 triennial. In spite of a slight increase, the targeted rate for 2016 has been attained. Efforts targeting girls must be continued to avoid having the trend negatively reverse.

 

 
Target 4:  Increase of 9.5 percentage points in the qualification and graduation rate after seven years for the public sector, going from a rate of 67.5% to 77%.

The graduation and qualification rate after 7 years in Estrie increased significantly over the past several years. In spite of a slight decline in 2015, the rate has increased from 67.5% in 2009 to 73 % in 2015.
